Madonna
grabbed
the
media
attention
at
the
première
of
her
latest
film
WE
at
the
Venice
Film
Festival
on
Thursday,
September
1.
She
walked
the
red
carpet
with
dazzling
tailed
dress
and
red-framed
spectacles.
Her
grand
entry
received
standing
ovation
at
the
Sala
Grande
(Palazzo
del
Cinema).
Madonna
also
posed
for
photographers
before
she
was
joined
by
the
lead
actress
of
WE,
Abbie
Cornish,
who
sported
dee
purple
Atelier
Versace
gown.
Talking
about
WW,
she
said
“I
think
once
you
become
famous,
you
have
to
pretty
much
relinquish
the
idea
that
people
are
going
to
see
you
for
who
you
are,
or
look
beyond
the
surface
of
things.
I
think
that
was
a
source
of
great
frustration
for
Wallis
Simpson
and
for
Edward
VIII,
because
after
he
abdicated,
they
didn't
really
have
the
opportunity
to
defend
themselves."
“So
hopefully,
I
have
been
able
to
do
that
for
Wallis
Simpson
through
my
film." She
concluded.
WE
is
the
story
of
Wallis
Simpson,
the
woman
England's
King
Edward
VIII
abdicated
the
throne
to
marry.
It
is
Madonna's
second
directorial
venture.
