On Stranger Tides grosses $1 billion at Box Office

Walt Disney"s movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide Box Office this weekend. So far seven films have crossed the $1 billion milestone and the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has become the eighth film to achieve this accomplishment.

On Stranger Tides has done massive business at the international Box Office and grossed $774 million. It has earned $233.7 million in domestic market. The worldwide total of the movie is above $1.007 billion, which is lesser than the earning of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man"s Chest ($1.1 billion worldwide).

The success of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is Disney"s biggest international release ever and the third biggest of all times. Chairman Rich Ross, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall are very happy with performance of the film.

Talking about On Stranger Tides, Jerry Bruckheimer credited its success to Johnny Depp, writers Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio and Marshall. “This is such a beloved franchise, and Johnny Depp is such a huge worldwide star. The combination of all these talents was really something," Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter.
