Rise of the Planet of the Apes premiere in Los Angeles

The premiere of Rise of the Planet of the Apes was held at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 28. James Franco and Freida Pinto graced the occasion. James looked sharp in dark colored plaid suit, while Freida glammed up in her backless bright green maxi dress and nude colored heels.

James Franco and Freida Pinto were joined by Tom Felton and Andy Serkis on the red carpet. Felton appeared in very neat three-piece suit, while Serkis sported a Hawaiian shirt under his suit. David Oyelowo, John Lithgow, Jamie Harris, Loretta Devine, director Rupert Wyatt and producer Peter Cher also made it to the event.

James Franco said, “On set, Andy would be dressed in an outfit that looked like gray pajamas, with a ton of wires around him and a small camera at the end of a wire armature pointed at his face to capture his expressions. He looked nothing like a chimpanzee, but he was so good at capturing the behavior of a chimpanzee that I guess my actor's imagination took over. It was like acting with a chimpanzee who has amazing acting instincts."

However, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a prequel to 1968's film Planet of the Apes. This movie is about Caesar, a chimp who is raised by Will Rodman and becomes an experiment object for Alzheimer research. The experiment genetically improves Caesar's intelligence, but leads him to start a revolution that escalates into a war between humans and apes. The film will release on August 5.
