Russell Brand turns PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity

Comedian Russell Brand, who has been a vegetarian since the age of 14, has now become the PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2011. The Hollywood funnyman has beaten the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Natalie Portman, Olivia Wilde and Anne Hathaway and shared this year's title of PETA with Kristen Wiig.

Russell Brand recently appeared on the talk show 'Live! With Regis and Kelly', where he explained that he does not even consume fish oil. He said, "I'm vegetarian. I think it's cruel to squeeze oil out of a fish... Cause they're lovely little guys, aren't they? You shouldn't eat animals; it's mean to them!"

Shania Twain was the first star to be named as Sexiest Vegetarian Alive by PETA in 2001. Bob Harper and Olivia Wilde had shared last year's title. Bob Harper, Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood, Kristen Bell, Chris Martin, Josh Hartnett, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman have also been given this title in the past.
