Russell Brand sure to star in Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages

Comedian Russell Brand has now joined the cast of movie musical Rock of Ages. The British funnyman will star alongside popular Hollywood actors like Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin in the Broadway adaptation, which is being directed by Adam Shankman.

Earlier, speculations were being made about casting Russell Brand for Rock of Ages. On April 13, director Adam Shankman took to his Twitter page to announce his addition in the supporting cast. Adam wrote, "I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie! I see a mullet in his future...maybe a Nikki Six?"

Meanwhile, New Line Cinema has said that Russell Brand has not signed the film. In statement issued to Entertainment Weekly, the studio has stated that the actor has not officially closed the deal just yet, but he will do it very soon. He will work with Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige in the the supporting cast of the film.
