Russell Crowe to play superman's father in Man of Steel

Actor Russell Crowe is likely to play the superman's father in the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. According to sources, the Robin Hood star is in talks with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. If he signs the deal, he will portray Jor-El, Superman's biological father from planet Krypton.

Marlon Brando had played Jor-El in the 1978 classic film. Now, producer Christopher Nolan is looking for an A-list actor to portray Supes' dad and Russell Crowe certainly fits the bill. Currently, the discussions are going on and Warner Bros. is yet to issue a formal statement on the casting.

However, the Warner Bros. has already roped in Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner and Michael Shannon for Superman: Man of Steel. Directed by Zack Snyder, the reboot will have the script by David S. Goyer. This movie is expected to hit US theaters in 2012.
