Sandra Bullock donates $1m for Japan tsunami victims

Many Hollywood stars have expressed their concerns over the plight of people of Japan after the country was devastated by earthquake and tsunami. They donated huge amount of money for the tsunami victims in Japan besides urging their fans to help. Latest to join the league of such stars is actress Sandra Bullock.

The Oscar winning star has donated 1 million dollars to the American Red Cross to help victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. "The American Red Cross is extremely grateful for this generous support from Sandra Bullock and her family," the New York Daily News quoted the Red Cross' statement.

However, Japan has been rattled by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, horrifying tsunami and nuclear crisis. Now, lot of money is needed to re-establish the the country and Sandra Bullock's hefty contribution is the largest known donation to the Red Cross. Its statement added, "This contribution is vitally important as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan."
