Tom
Cruise,
who
played
the
suave
and
sexy
Ethan
Hunt
in
Mission
Impossible
series
has
confirmed
that
he'll
return
to
the
big
screen
as
the
sleazy,
foul-mouthed,
bloated
Les
Grossman.
The
screenwriter
Michael
Bacall
has
said
that
he
is
working
on
the
script,
which
will
reveal
where
the
snarling,
foul-mouthed,
bottom-slapping
studio
exec's
inner
rage
really
comes
from.
Grossman
first
entered
the
public
consciousness
when
Tom
Cruise
pulled
on
a
bald
wig,
dark
glasses,
padding
and
a
large
amount
of
bling
to
play
him
in
the
2008
comedy
Tropic
Thunder.
Cruise
revived
the
character
for
a
duet
with
Jennifer
Lopez
at
the
2010
MTV
movie
awards
and
revealed
at
the
time
that
a
big
screen
outing
was
in
the
works.
Michael
Bacall,
who
also
wrote
the
script
of
Edgar
Wright's
Scott
Pilgrim
Vs
the
World
and
the
upcoming
21
Jump
Street
film,
said
he
was
excited
about
Grossman's
potential
as
a
lead
character,
despite
the
movie
producer
having
only
appeared
briefly
in
Tropic
Thunder.
He
was
quoted
saying,"I
felt
really
great
about
that
from
the
beginning
because
I
loved
the
character." Bacall
also
added,
"Tom
had
an
incredible
idea
on
how
to
tell
this
story,
and
give
it
some
real
emotion
and
heart.
And
as
soon
as
he
hit
on
that
idea,
it
was
off
to
the
races.
But
I
feel
really
good
about
that
project,
and
I
hope
that
it
will
happen."
Tom
Cruise's
career
is
going
great
guns
after
Mission:
Impossible
–
Ghost
Protocol
became
the
highest-grossing
film
in
the
four-movie
spy
series
earlier
this
year.
The
action
film,
directed
by
Brad
Bird,
was
also
highly
praised
by
critics.
