Mumbai:
Zack
Snyder's
latest
directorial
venture
Man
of
Steel
(MOS)
starring
Henri
Cavill
as
the
new
superhero,
has
done
a
superb
business
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
in
its
opening
weekend.
The
Hollywood
Sci-Fi
thriller
has
topped
the
collection
chart
in
the
country,
beating
Hindi
movies
like
Fukrey,
Yamla
Pagla
Deewana
2
and
Yeh
Jawaani
Hai
Deewani.
But
has
failed
to
smash
the
record
of
last
Hollywood
release
Fast
&
Furious
6
in
the
country.
Fast
&
Furious
6
had
collected
Rs
21.55
crores
nett
from
1,200
screens
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
in
its
opening
weekend.
Whereas
Man
of
Steel,
which
released
with
Hindi,
Tamil
and
Telugu
version
in
800
screens
nationwide,
has
minted
Rs
21
crores
at
Indian
Box
Office
in
its
first
weekend.
Although
it
has
failed
to
beat
the
weekend
record
of
Fast
&
Furious
6,
its
per
screen
average
is
much
higher
than
that
of
the
latter.
Man
of
Steel
has
got
off
to
a
flying
start
in
the
USA
Box
Office
with
its
first
weekend
collection
reaching
USD
125.2
million.
But
the
bosses
of
the–
Warner
Bros
Pictures
(WBP)
are
much
happier
with
its
performance
in
India.
Talking
to
PTI,
Denzil
Dias,
MD
of
the
WBP,
said,
"We're
thrilled
at
the
tremendous
response
we've
seen
from
audiences
across
India
to
Zack
Snyder's
exciting
new
vision
of
the
iconic
Super
Hero."
Produced
by
Charles
Roven,
Christopher
Nolan,
Emma
Thomas
and
Deborah
Snyder,
Man
of
Steel
also
features
Hollywood
A-listers
like
Amy
Adams,
Michael
Shannon,
Kevin
Costner,
Diane
Lane
and
Russell
Crowe.
David
S
Goyer
has
written
story
and
screenplay
for
this
much-hyped
superman
flick.
Man
of
Steel
takes
a
look
at
Superman's
origin
by
telling
the
story
of
his
childhood,
where
the
superhero
learns
that
he
is
not
from
earth
and
has
extraordinary
powers.
As
a
young
man,
he
journeys
to
discover
where
he
came
from
and
what
he
was
sent
here
to
do.
But
the
hero
in
him
must
emerge
if
he
has
to
save
the
world
from
annihilation
and
become
the
symbol
of
hope
for
all
mankind.
