Alcoholism Behind Elizabeth Pena's Death
Actress Elizabeth Pena died due to complications caused by alcohol abuse, says a report. The actress' death certificate reveals Pena suffered from cirrhosis of the liver "due to alcohol". She had the disease for months, but it became acute shortly before her death, reports TMZ
The death certificate says the 55-year-old star had acute gastrointestinal bleeding hours before her death, which caused her heart to stop.
Elizabeth Pena died on October 14 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In 1987, Elizabeth landed her breakthrough role in La Bamba. Pena recently filmed a guest appearance on Modern Family as Sofia Vergara's mother and she also starred in the first season of Matador on the El Rey Network.

As soon as Pena's cause of death was reported, fans on Twitter started blaming the star. Alcoholism is dangerous and unhealthy. Some tweets read that Pena could have saved her life if she had stopped drinking.
However, Elizabeth Pena after her 35-year long career has left quite a legacy and her great talent was lost before her time.
