Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts is rumoured to have been finalised for the remake of English-language remake of Oscar-winning Argentine thriller "Secret in Their Eyes". She now joins Chiwetel Ejiofor and Gwyneth Paltrow have also been cast in director Billy Ray's revamp of the Juan Jose Campanella movie, which was crowned Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards in 2009.
IM Global, which is fully financing the project, is selling the rights to the project at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival.
The original film cast two male leads and one female lead, but when Roberts expressed her interest, Ray has apparently swapped one of the gender-based roles to fit the actress into the project.
The original, which was directed by Campanella and starred Ricardo Darin, was based on the Eduardo Sacheri novel about a romance between a retired judiciary employee and a judge who work to solve a 1974 rape and murder two decades after it took place.
Mark Johnson will produce the project along with John Ufland.
The remake, described as a sophisticated crime thriller, is scheduled to start production this fall.
