Richard Gere & Padma Lakshmi End Their Romance

Actor Richard Gere and actress turned TV host Padma Lakshmi have reportedly called off their six-month-old relationship. The duo have parted ways mutually due to their work commitments. Both Richard and Padma have been very busy with work lately.

Padma Lakshmi, the host of TV show "Top Chef", broke the news about being single in a television interview after she was asked about her love life.

"The couple decided they would be better as friends as both had been busy with their work," said a source. The six months secret romance was never visible in public as the estranged celebrity couple did not make many public appearances together.

Richard Gere and Lakshmi began dating in April this year after he got a divorce from his wife of eleven years, Carey Lowell. Lakshmi was married to famous author Salman Rushdie for three years until they divorced in 2007. She then dated billionaire Teddy Forstmann until he died of brain cancer in 2011. Padma o has a 3-year-old daughter, Krishna Thea Lakshmi-Dell, with Adam Dell, the venture capitalist brother of computer maker Michael Dell.
