Hollywood horror movies can be really frightening if shown properly. While critics and audience made fun of Paranormal Activity 4 (The Marked Ones) that released earlier this year, we are sure there are some hair-raising horror movies which can take the s**t out of you. Yes, we mean it!

While some are fictional, there are some Hollywood horror movies which are based on real lives. For example, the recently released Annabelle which is a prequel of The Conjuring is a horror movie based on a true story. Although critics feel that the sequel was much better than the creepy doll one, we feel that watching a horror movie after finding out that it is based on true events can actually make you feel scary.

The Omen

Although the movie released in 1976, the movie can still spark horror on our faces. After seeing the young actor who is Antichrist, we can surely not sleep for days!

Insidious

The James Wan's movie again stars a child actor. The story, bearing strong resemblance to the 1982 classic Poltergeist, centers around a couple whose son inexplicably enters a comatose state and becomes a vessel for ghosts in an astral dimension.

The Evil Dead

Though we have 2013 version as well, the original cult classic which was released in 1981 is still frightening.

The Blair Witch Project

We all thought that the 3 students in this footage horror film is real. However, the brilliant acting and production makes it a cult classic horror movie of all time!

The Conjuring

The 2013 horror movie is based on a true story. The movie shows the paranormal activities that were seen by a family after they moved into a Rhode Island farmhouse in the 1970s.

The Exorcist

This is one of the most scariest horror movies of all time. Adapted from a novel of the same name, this 1973 movie shows how a young girl is demonic possessed. This movie grossed over $441 million worldwide and was the first horror film to be nominated for Best Picture.

Curse of Chucky

The sixth installment in the Child's Play franchise can give you goosebumps. The film marks the return of Andy Barclay, the franchise's original protagonist in the first three films.
