'60 Minutes' Host Steve Kroft Admits His Nasty Extramarital Affair

Veteran "60 Minutes" host Steve Kroft has opened up about his secret three-year fling with a New York City lawyer.

"I had an extramarital affair that was a serious lapse of personal judgment and extremely hurtful to my wife and family. And for that, I have nothing but regret," People quoted Kroft as saying.

"My wife and I are committed to each other and are working hard to get past this, and consider it a private matter," the 60 Minutes correspondent added.

The National Enquirer first reported the infidelity, claiming Kroft initially met 41-year-old lawyer Lisan Goines, who's also married, at the St. Regis hotel bar in Manhattan back in 2011."This was a personal failure, not a professional one, and had no impact whatsoever on my job as a journalist," he clarified.

Reportedly, Goines allegedly ended the affair because she felt Kroft had become too needy: "Lisan never wanted him to leave his wife, and she never contemplated leaving her husband and she told him it was best that it end," reports Gawker.

The longtime news correspondent married author and journalist Jennet Conant in 1991 and famously confronted Bill Clinton over his womanising during the former president's 1992 election campaign.

This is not the first time a correspondent of 60 Minutes got involved in an extra-marital affair. While stationed in Iraq in 2008, National Enquirer reported, that the married foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan had a romance with CNN correspondent Michael Ware and a military contractor named Joe Burkett (who ended up divorcing his wife to marry Logan).
