Cannes Film Festival 2015 Winners: Rooney Mara, Dheepan & More...

The glamourous Cannes Film Festival 2015 came to end on May 24th and we have the big winners name here.

Throughout the Film Festival, there were surprises all round with anticipated movie releases, red carpet and events. However, as the jury led by Presidents Joel and Ethan Coen gave one of the biggest awards of the Cannes Film Festival, Best Actress jointly to both Rooney Mara for 'Carol', and Emmanuelle Bercot for 'Mon Roi' (My King).

It was surprising as Rooney's co-star, Academy Award winner, Cate Blanchett was expected to share the Best Actress award after being getting huge accolades for her performance in the Todd Haynes' `50s lesbian drama.

Best actor was swept away by Vincent Lindon, the veteran French actor of Stéphane Brizé's 'The Measure of a Man'.

The biggest award of the night Palme d'Or went to French director, Jacques Audiard for the thriller refugee film, 'Dheepan'. The movie shows a Tamil freedom fighter, a Tiger. He flees from Civil War to a asylum in Europe to start a new life but the daily violence he confronts quickly reopens his war wounds, and Dheepan is forced to reconnect with his warrior's instincts.

Speaking as he received the award, Audiard said, "I'm very moved. To receive a prize from the Coen brothers is exceptional. There's only the Dardenne brothers."

The runner-up prize (The Grand Prix), went to 'Son of Saul', a grim Holocaust drama by first-time Hungarian director László Nemes.

Hou Hsiao-Hsien won Best Director for his first feature in eight years: 'The Assassin'.

Short Film Palme d'Or went to Waves '98 by Ely Dagher. The Palme was decided by a jury headed by the Coen brothers. The Coen brothers took the coveted award in 1991 for 'Barton Fink'.
