Apart from red carpet and movie premieres on opening day, the Cannes Film Festival 2015 also made a big announcement. Luc Besson's EuropaCorp announced Wednesday in Cannes that it will finance, distribute and co-produce Pablo Escobar's biopic 'Escobar'.
Luc will co-produce with Pinguin Films and Dean Nichols Productions on this biopic.
Based on Virginia Vallejo's 2008 best-selling Spanish-language memoir Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar, Spanish director, Fernando Leon de Aranoa, will write and direct the biopic.

Javier Bardem will play Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria aka Pablo Escobar who was a wealthy Colombian drug lord and an exclusive cocaine trafficker who died in a shootout in 1993.
The movie will show the rise of Escobar as a drug Lord and produced byDean Nichols, Javier Bardem and EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert.
Bardem and Cruz had worked together previously in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," for which Cruz won a best supporting actress Oscar award. Bardem has also worked with León de Aranoa on "Mondays in the Sun."
