Emmys 2015 Nominations: Snubs & Surprise Nominees

Like every year, the nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards has left us surprised, shocked, sad and happy. The mixed emotions come after the Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday which was a mixed bag for the primetime television.

Consequently, nobody is ever completely pleased by the Emmy nominations as there are surprises and snubs which leaves one happy and crushes the dreams too!

Emmys 2015 nominations has been dominated by HBO which has come out as the biggest network or streaming service with 126 nominations! It's popular epic series, 'Game of Thrones' which created a stir of controversy post Season 5 has netted 24 nods including four acting nominations, two directing nominations, and a writing nomination.

Some of the other biggest surprises were additional nominations and shifting of categories! For example, comedy series got a seventh nomination into the category. While Netflix's 'Orange Is the New Black,' moved to drama under new Acad rules. Emmys shifted the all hour long shows into Drama category.

While a few nominees like Kevin Spacey were expected, we had new entries too!

A lot of African-American actors have got noticed this year at the Emmys. Anthony Anderson ("black-ish"), David Oyelowo ("Nightingale"), Andre Braugher ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), Cicely Tyson ("How to Get Away With Murder"), Queen Latifah ("Bessie"), Don Cheadle ("House of Lies") and Uzo Aduba ("Orange Is the New Black").

For the first time, two African-American actresses were nominated in the category for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama series; Taraji P. Henson, "Empire" and Viola Davis, "How to Get Away with Murder". Modern Family like every year got to the Emmys with 6 nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series and Supporting actor, Comedy.

While this came as a surprise, we had some of the biggest snubs as well. For example, 'Empire' was snubbed from the biggest category, Best Drama Series. However, Taraji P. Henson who plays Cookie in the drama got nominated for Lead Actress in Drama.

'Big Bang Theory' was snubbed majorly at Emmys 2015. The biggest and most popular comedy series which got nominated for 4 years in Best Comedy Series had been dropped this year.

Amazon's Golden Globe winning show, 'Transparent' got 11 nominations, the highest of any comedy. Jeffrey Tambor net the Lead Actor nom.

One interesting nomination was 'Orange is the New Black' for Outstanding Drama Series.

Amy Schumer also got noticed by the Emmys team and got nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy!
