Felicity Jones To Play Female Lead In 'Star Wars' Stand-Alone

Stars Wars Stand-Alone film just added the female lead in the cast. Academy Award Best Actress nominee, Felicity Jones has been reportedly cast as the female lead in the upcoming ‘Star Wars' film.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the 31-year-old actress was chosen by both Lucas film and Disney to play the female lead in the first stand-alone film in the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars stand-alone is one of two stand-alone films in the franchise, and is separate from the upcoming sequel, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Felicity Jones To Play Female Lead In Star Wars Stand-Alone

Gareth Edwards is directing and Chris Weitz is writing the film. Sources say that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are reportedly considered for the male lead. The movie has a release date of Dec. 16, 2016.

Felicity Jones has been really busy currently making the awards season rounds for her performance as Jane Hawking in Oscar nominated film, The Theory of Everything. She plays the first wife of physicist Stephen Hawking (played by Eddie Redmayne).

Her new release, True Story, in which she stars with James Franco and Jonah Hill, just premiered at Sundance. Felicity Jones is shooting A Monster Calls, a family fantasy directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Liam Neeson and Toby Kebbell.
