'King of the Blues' Legend BB King Dies at Age 89

BB King who was is also known as the icon of blues has passed away. The 'King of the Blues' legend passed away in his sleep.

King died in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday at his Las Vegas home, his attorney, Brent Bryson, told The Associated Press.

Known for his hits Lucille, Sweet Black Angel to name a few, BB King started performing in the 1940. He has been inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

BB King is a 15 time Grammy winner, more than any other blues musician, his last being in 2009 for his album One Kind Favor.

King announced on May 1 that he entered home hospice care at his Las Vegas residence, ending his legacy as a relentless touring artist. He was recently taken to hospital with a diabetes-related illness.

King performed in at least 100 concerts a year with his trademark Gibson guitar nicknamed "Lucille."
