Oscar Best Acceptance Speeches By 2014 Winners

Every year, we get to hear some inspiring and heart touching acceptance speeches by the Oscar winners. Last year too, we saw and heard some beautiful speeches by Oscar winners which moved us.

At the 86th Academy awards, we saw a lot of emotions running inside the Dolby Theater were the Oscar winners first or second or many more times, got emotional and showed their happiness over the Oscar win as well.

Starting from the first award which went to Jared Leto for 'Dallas Buyers Club' to the last award of the night which was swept away by Steve McQueen for '12 Years A Slave', we had some brilliant acceptance speeches on the Oscars 2014 stage.

Before we get swept away by the inspiring acceptance speeches by Oscar 2015 winners, here are the best and memorable speeches by Oscar 2014 winners.

Jared Leto: Jared Leto during his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor (Dallas Buyers Club) at the Oscar Awards 2014 mentioned about the AIDS patients worldwide who are suffering and dying. "This is for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love; tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you," Leto said at his acceptance speech.

Cate Blanchett: Cate was surprised to win the Best Actress for her performance in Blue Jasmine when she was up against Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts and Judi Dench. During her acceptance speech at the Oscars stage, Cate proved that women-centric films can make money too! "Sit down, you are too all to be standing... For so bravely and intelligently distributing the film and to the audiences who went to see it and perhaps those of us in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films with women at the center are niche experiences. They are not. Audiences want to see them and, in fact, they earn money. The world is round, people," she said.

Lupita Nyong'o: Lupita put the racists to shame with her Oscar Best Supporting Actress (12 Years A Slave) Oscar speech. "It doesn't escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else's. And so I want to salute the spirit of [her character] Patsey for her guidance. And for Solomon [Northup], thank you for telling her story and your own. When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you're from, your dreams are valid."

Darlene Love: Darlene was on stage to accept Best Documentary feature award (20 Feet of Stardom) with Morgan Neville, Caitrin Rogers and late Gil Friesen's wife, Janet Friesen. Before singing, the singer said, "I am so happy to be here representing the ladies of 20 Feet of Stardom". Then she sang, "I sing because I'm happy! I sing because I'm free. 'Cause his eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me." Her song was met with a standing ovation by everyone.

Matthew McConaughey: The Oscar 2014 Best Actor winner for Dallas Buyers Club thanked God, his family, kids and everyone before talking about what he thinks and what he aspires to be. "Every day, every week, every month and every year of my life, my hero is always 10 years away. I'm never going to be my hero. I'm not going to attain that. I know I'm not, and that's just fine with me because that keeps me with somebody to keep on chasing."

Steve McQueen: The night concluded with Steve and his entire cast accepting the Best Picture Award for 12 Years a Slave. Bringing up Northup, he said, "Everyone deserves to live, not just survive."
