Selena Gomez James Franco Starring In 'In Dubious Battle'

Singer-actress Selena Gomez and James Franco are set to star together again on the big screen. After Spring Breakers, Gomez and Franco will be seen in 'In Dubious Battle'.

James Franco will put on the director's hat for this movie and, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston, Robert Duvall, Vincent D'Onofrio and Danny McBride are also among the cast members in the movie.

Franco, 39, and Gomez previously worked together in 'Spring Breakers'. The 'I Am Michael' star collaborated with McBride in 2013's 'This Is the End' and 2011's 'Your Highness'.

'In Dubious Battle' by John Steinbeck, was published in 1936, and tells the story of a man who organises a strike by fruit pickers in Southern California in the 1930s. Matt Rager ('As I Lay Dying') adapted the novel for the screenplay. Filming will start in March.

According to the press release, In Dubious Battle is "set in a fictionalized valley in California" and "explores themes Steinbeck continued to develop: group behavior, social injustice, man's inhumanity to man-all themes which continue to be relevant today.

Franco is already familiar with Steinback's works. Previously, he made his Broadway debut with Broadway revival of Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men'.

"A labor conflict between migrant apple pickers and the local growers' association is the backdrop against which Jim Nolan (Franco) becomes involved in the labor movement and rapidly matures as he learns what it means to do organizational fieldwork."

Selena is really busy these days as the singer turned actress has already started shooting her next film, The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving with Paul Rudd.
