Spike
Lee,
the
58
years
old
American
director
and
actor
received
an
Honorary
Oscars
at
Governors
Awards
on
November
15,
2015.
The
celebrity
slammed
Hollywood
during
the
ceremony
for
lack
of
diversity
in
the
industry.
Spike
Lee
said,"So
we
can
talk
'yabba
yabba
yabba'
but
we
need
to
have
some
serious
discussion
about
diversity
and
get
some
flavor
up
in
this.
This
industry
is
so
behind
sports
it's
ridiculous."
Lack
of
diversity
issue
is
at
its
peak
in
Hollywood
at
present.
Many
celebrities
and
known
faces
are
demanding
for
a
better
diversity
in
the
crowd
especially
after
the
recent
Victoria's
Secret
show,
where
the
number
of
white
women
over
powered
models
belonging
from
other
races.
It
has
always
been
so.
The
director
used
the
platform
to
say,
"Everybody
in
here
probably
voted
for
Obama
but
when
I
go
to
offices,
I
see
no
black
folks
except
for
the
brother
man
at
the
security
that
checks
my
name
off
the
list
as
I
go
into
the
studio,"
Spike
feels
it
is
easier
to
become
a
black
president
in
the
country
US,
but
not
be
a
part
of
the
mainstream
media.
He
took
everyone
by
surprise
when
he
involved
statistics
and
numbers
while
talking
about
the
issue
of
diversity
that's
going
to
affect
Hollywood
in
future.
"I
don't
know
if
you
noticed
but
the
United
States
census
bureau
says
by
the
year
2043,
white
Americans
are
going
to
be
the
minority
in
this
country.
And
all
you
people
out
there
in
the
position
of
hiring,
you
better
get
smart
because
you'll
work
for
us.
Reflect
what
this
country
looks
like."
He
appreciated
Cheryl
Boone
Isaacs,
the
president
of
the
Academy,
for
her
contribution
towards
promoting
diversity
in
Hollywood.
Spike
said,
"President,
keep
it
going.
I
know
it's
tough.
We
got
a
long
way
to
go."
