Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Was An 'Insult', Said Gene Wilder

The late legendary actor Gene Wilder had mentioned that Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was like an insult to him. He was neither impressed by the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, nor with the director of the film.

"I think it's an insult. It's probably Warner Bros.' insult," Wilder had opined during an interview back in 2013.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was an attempt by the director Tim Burton to remake the classic 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, but that hardly impressed the actor of the original movie.

"Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don't care for that director. He's a talented man, but I don't care for him doing stuff like he did," Wilder had mentioned.

Gene Wilder died recently at the age of 83 in his home at Stamford, suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

The celebrated actor had also featured in a number of films including The Producers, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Blazing Saddles, Silver Streak, Bonnie and Clyde, Stir Crazy and many more.

Wilder was also nominated for Oscars two times in his movie career. He had also won the prestigious Emmy award in 2003 for his role in "Will & Grace".
