Actress Dakota Fanning says she finds dating to be absolutely horrific.

The 22-year-old actress states that it really makes her feel awkward to date a person she is meeting for the first time. She also added, she is single at the moment and even doesn't want to get into any relationship.

"I find dates, in general, horrific. We have to sit there and ask these questions and pretend to eat a meal, and it just feels so stiff," Fanning said.

Fanning said that she would like to meet someone through a friend rather than going on a blind date.

"The way I prefer to meet someone is through a friend because that means the person is most likely not a freak," Fanning added.

While talking about her past relationship, Fanning stated that she had broken up with her ex-boyfriend Jamie Strachan, a long time back after being in a relationship for almost three years. However, she also added that she doesn't like to talk more about it.

"I was raised by very traditional southern parents with southern manners. You don't air your dirty laundry to people that aren't your family or your friends. Why would I ever want to portray myself as anything other than together?" she said further.
