Former
WWE
fighter
turned
actor,
Dwayne
Johnson,
popularly
known
as
'The
Rock'
has
emerged
as
the
world's
highest
paid
actor
surpassing
stars
like
Jackie
Chan,
Matt
Damon,
Tom
Cruise
and
Johnny
Depp,
his
next
close
contenders
in
the
list.
In
a
recently
published
survey
by
Forbes
magazine,
it
has
been
found
that
Dwayne
Johnson
has
earned
a
lucrative
previous
year
from
movies
like
Fast
and
Furious
and
San
Andreas,
and
bumped
Robert
Downey
Jr.
from
the
top
spot
who
had
claimed
the
position
for
three
successive
years.
However,
there
has
been
a
huge
pay
gap
between
the
male
and
female
stars
in
Hollywood.
Actress
Jennifer
Lawrence's
take-home
is
only
72
percent
of
what
Johnson
gets.
It
is
also
found
that
eighteen
male
actors
have
earned
a
salary
over
$20
Million
when
compared
to
the
fact
that
only
four
female
stars
have
managed
to
do
that.
It
also
brings
to
notice
that
the
older
women
are
again
discriminated
on
the
pay
against
the
younger
ones.
Among
the
top
five,
Dwayne
Johnson
earns
$64.5
Million,
followed
by
Jackie
Chan
who
earns
$61
Million,
then
comes
in
the
Martian
star
Matt
Damon
with
earning
of
$55
Million,
closely
chased
by
the
Mission
Impossible
star
Tom
Cruise
with
$53
Million,
and
Johnny
Depp
with
$48
Million.
