Actress Kate Beckinsale reveals that she was told that she didn't have much scope in Hollywood industry as an actress. The Love & Friendship actress started her career in acting with independent British films, and there, people had told her that she has no "edge."
The actress also said that it might be due to the films she started with, people had perceived her as soft, delicate and meek.
"When I began working outside of England, what I kept running into was, 'She's very British and delicate, she doesn't have much edge'," said Beckinsale.
However, the 43-year-old actress, is now thrilled to experience Hollywood, that has changed over time, and now women are being brought into the front-line and even as protagonists more often than earlier.
She said, "The needle has moved. 'Bridesmaids' was a watershed moment. But now everyone just wants to make female comedies that make tons of money, it's coming from a cynical perspective."
While talking about films, Kate Beckinsale also said that it is imperative to cast and feature female as well as male actors in equal parameters. Based on the story and scripts of the film.
"I believe in well-made films that are well-acted and directed. It's important that everybody is represented." Beckinsale added.
