Oscars 2016 Live Updates & Important Highlights: Chris Rock Kicks Off With A Funny Monologue!

It is finally happening! The most awaited night of the year couldn't have had a better start. The host of Oscars 2016, Chris Rock kick-started the night with a funny monologue!

He began saying, 'Man, I counted at least 15 black people in that montage!Rock says he didn't think it was worth it to cancel since the show would go on regardless.'

He managed to add a hint of humour to the ongoing 'Oscars So White' issue. Being called the America's top stand-up comedian and also hosting Oscars, Chris had to balance humour and the serious issue.

He continued, 'Last thing I need is to lose another job to Kevin Hart. I don't need that. When your grandmother's swinging from the tree, it's really hard to care about best documentary foreign short.'

Chris Rock, being the funny man that he is, he took a dig at Will Smith by talking about him not being nominated for his movie 'Concussion'.

And, he went on to say, 'It's not fair that Will Smith was this good [in 'Concussion'] and didn't get nominated. It's also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for 'Wild Wild West!'

Before the nominees were presented on the screen, the host said, 'This year, in the 'in memorial' package, it's just gonna be black people that was shot by the cops on their way to the movies. Yes, yes, I said it'

The other factor we are all looking forward to this Oscars is Leonardo DiCaprio's win or loss! The actor decided to get his mother along to the event and while talking about his parents, he said,

He owes everything to his parents, especially because they listened to him as a kid when he said he wanted to be an actor. He didn't forget to mention, 'hopefully for the last time?!' as he laughed.

And then there were other celebs who just wished Chris Rock good luck and the comedian Tina Fey said, she doesn't have anything to say to him as he's the greatest living American comedian!
