Pacific Rim Sequel’s Official Title Announced

Actor John Boyega reveals the official title of the much-anticipated sequel to 2013 hit, Pacific Rim.

Actor John Boyega has finally revealed the title of the forthcoming sequel of the 2013 hit action-fantasy drama Pacific Rim.

The title for the sequel has been christened as Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.

The 24-year-old actor has leaked an image of his own script on the social networking site Instagram, clearly mentioning the new name for the movie as 'Pacific Rim: Maelstrom'. This has been rumoured for long and now revealed by the actor himself.

"First day on Pacific Rim today. Here's to a great adventure ahead," Boyega wrote along with the photo he shared on Instagram. The actor will be seen playing the character of the son of 'Stacker Pentecost'. In the first film, actor Idris Elba portrayed the same.

The upcoming sequel, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, will be directed by Steven S DeKnight and it will star Jing Tian, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny alongside others.

DeKnight, also took to his personal Twitter page to mention that the production has started rolling. "Day 1 of shooting. The adventure begins... #PacificRim2." stated DeKnight.

The movie is expected to release in the US on 23rd February 2018.

The first movie was set in the backdrop of future, where it showed the Earth was in danger of an invasion from colossal monsters from the inter-dimensional portal under the Pacific Ocean and mankind had to draw out its last blood to defend their existence.
