Ouch! That's gotta hurt!
Rebecca Romijn calls out Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid and slams them saying that they are not 'real supermodels'.
The former supermodel Rebecca Romijn says that both the 20-year-old Kendall Jenner and 21-year-old Gigi Hadid who slam the runways are 'not true supermodels'. The 43-year-old former model feels that it's all because of the social media influence that these two have made it to the fashion industry.
The 55.3 Million followers and 16.7 Million followers for Kendall and Gigi respectively, are the only reason every major designer has asked them to walk the runway, feels Rebecca. She told ET that "No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue, So it is frustrating."
She further said that many other people also believe that its because of all these social media attention these two get, they are cast in the show and not because of their true talent. She said "I know a lot of people - legitimate fashion people - can't stand it, Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels."
After appearing in many major shows and also making it to the cover page of the prestigious magazine Vogue, it is safe to say that these girls have earned their spot as supermodels. But Rebecca feels otherwise.
The former supermodel added that, "The thing is, I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way, not be a follower, I rely on Vogue to set the standard, not follow what everybody else is doing. So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards. But it will change; fashion always does." such burn!
Do you guys think that social media is the cause of these girls becoming supermodels are do they have a natural flare for that kind of a thing? Hit the comment section to share your thoughts on this one.
