The London born English actor and director, Alan Rickman dies at 69, today, January 14, 2016. The actor lost his battle to cancer and took his last breath while his fans, fellow actors and family mourned his loss.
The actor was famous for his roles like Snape from the Harry Potter series and Hans Gruber in Die Hard.
He is survived by his wife Rima Horton, whom he met at an age of 19 and got married in the year 2012.
Paying her tributes to the late actor, Harry Potter author JK Rowling said, ‘a magnificent actor and a wonderful man.' She also tweeted,
‘There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman's death. My thoughts are with Rickman's wife Rima and the rest of Alan's family. We have all lost a great talent. They have lost part of their hearts.'
Actress Emma Thompson said, ‘He was, above all things, a rare and unique human being and we shall not see his like again.'
Alan's family announced his death on Thursday, January 14, 2016, in a statement which read, ‘The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.'
His fellow actor from the movie Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe said, 'undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with'.
He also added, ‘Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.'
Another famous face who was recently lost to cancer, too, was the legendary Rock and Roll artist David Bowie. David at 69 on January 11, 2016.
