Renowned fashion designer and film director Tom Ford says that he asked the costume designer Arianne Phillips, not to use any of the clothes and costumes designed by him in the movie Nocturnal Animals, even though those costumes proved perfect for Amy Adams' role as Susan.

"I wanted to use Tom's glasses (for Susan), but he was really clear he didn't want the audience to be taken out of the film, that he wasn't making 'a branded film' to sell clothes - to his credit," Phillips said in a statement.

"You learn in flashbacks the complicated relationship between Susan and her mother. Laura Linney's white suit was Chanel, made just for her. That was the time I said, 'Tom, I need you to pick up the phone and call Karl" added Tom Ford, who was also the former director of Gucci.

Meanwhile, Arianne says that, "Tom agreed that Susan's mother, a conservative Texas socialite with helmet-head hair, would wear Chanel, so he reached out. That's the power of Tom Ford - the perk is the access!"

However, Susan's tricolour fur costume was created by Tom Ford and most of the other costumes in the movie was custom-made, the costume designer Phillips says that none of those dresses are likely held up for Ford's future style collections.
