Tommy Hilfiger Finds His Personal Wardrobe Limited And Boring
Tommy Hilfiger says he is a bit boring when it comes to his own fashion and style.
American star fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger may be regarded as an icon in the world of fashion and style, but Tommy says that his own personal style is rather very boring and limited.
"I'm pretty boring when it comes to clothes. I have 50 white shirts, 50 chinos, 50 pairs of jeans and 25 pairs of white sneakers. Some navy and grey suits and black and brown shoes. It's more of a uniform, really," said Tommy.
Talking about his success, he said that "inability to read well" in school and being a dumb one in his class made him look for an alternative route in life and then he started his first luxury fashion store just at the age of 17.
"I did it as a result of my inability to read well. I actually didn't realize I was dyslexic until later on in life, but I thought when I was in school that I was just one of the dumb ones. I felt like I was not going to succeed... And I think it probably motivated me to think of what else I could do," he said.
"I came to the conclusion when I was 17 that I should be in business," he added.
The fashion mogul also added that he had started from the street.
"I drove five hours to New York City and I bought 20 pairs of bell-bottom jeans on the streets in the Village. I took them back to my school parking lot, sold them to my friends out of the trunk of my car, and with the profits, I opened my first shop and my business started taking off," Tommy said.
