X-Men: Apocalypse To Sideline Professor Charles Xavier?

By Nirmalraj

Woah! Is Charles Xavier sidelined in the new X-Men: Apocalypse movie?

The new trailer shows Xavier being kidnapped by Apocalypse and Charles's students are left without a mentor. However, his two favourite and trusted friends/colleagues are set on a mission to gather a new group of X-men, to defeat the all powerful Apocalypse.

X-men Apocalypse

Based on the trailers it is safe to say that other characters are given prominence compared to Xavier. This time around it's not about Xavier/Magneto but it is something beyond them. It takes the entire X-men team to defeat Apocalypse all without their mentor's help, Phew.... a tough task ahead!!

Surprisingly, Wolverine was shown in the latest trailers, which suggests that he may be around to help the X-men. It's left to Mystique and Beast to set things right. Will they succeed? What would be the cost they have to pay to win this battle? The stacks are high and bigger than ever before.

This is the third Marvel movie to hit the theatres this year, after Deadpool and Captain America: Civil War.

X-Men Apocalypse

If the movie follows the original source code, the comics have killed Xavier at least twice, stripped him off his powers once and sent to space away from all the chaos after he underwent a near death experience. The X-men have been handling things well in the absence of the professor, but in the big screens, we have to see how they all play out.

The two trilogies - the first trilogy starring Patrick Stewart as the old Charles Xavier, and the prequels to the original trilogy starring James McAvoy as the younger impetuous incarnation of Charles Xavier, have all had Xavier in the center of the plot line. This movie is different from the rest, it is sidelining the professor and concentrating more on damage control of the world with the help of these supernatural beings. According to Hollywood reporter the movie is following the comic book source code and is moving past the influence of Charles Xavier.

We shall wait and see how well this movie reaches out to the audience, when it hits the theatres on May 27th 2016, right after two weeks of another epic battle movie from Marvels' Own Captain America: Civil War.
