Oscar-nominated Hollywood star actress and film producer Jessica Chastain said that she wants Hollywood and most importantly the culture at large, to come to a point to accept and value women more on the aspects of their intelligence rather than their looks.
"Society as whole values a woman for her appearance and values a man for his mind, we need to get to a point where a woman is valued for what she has to say, not for what her hair looks like." Said Jessica Chastain in a statement.
Jessica Chastain had also said that many of her associates in Hollywood are quite sympathetic towards the fairer sex and also talked about bringing more diversity in the industry and urged more women to come behind the camera.
However, the Oscar-nominated star feels that mere talks are cheap, one should help others to actually implement that for real.
"There are so many people I know in the industry that speak out for diversity in film-making. You have to put it into action. Have they ever produced a film with a female director? Have they ever made a film that had a female protagonist?" stated Jessica Chastain.
"I've never thought of women in terms that way, I've always thought that women need to be the decision-makers." Added Chastain.
