Kate Ledger, sister of celebrated and iconic actor Heath Ledger said that The Dark Knight role was not responsible for the untimely death of the actor.

Heath Ledger who was 28, was found dead in his apartment due to drug overdose. It was later speculated that his famous The Dark Knight character as Joker had taken a real toll on his personal life and he was suffering from a mental illness similar to what he had to play the character in the movie.

Ledger's sister, however, refuted the claims and said that Heath was extremely normal at the time of his death and he never had any issue regarding his mental health.

"I was really shocked, because that was him, Ledger having fun. Every report was coming out that he was depressed and that the role was taking this toll on him, and we're going, honestly, it was the absolute opposite." Said Kate Ledger.

"It couldn't be more wrong. He had an amazing sense of humour, and I guess maybe only his family and friends knew that, but he was having fun. He wasn't depressed about the Joker!" Kate added further.

"I hope it's an antidote to a lot of the gossip that exists in the world. There are some really terrible things about Heath out there," said producer Matt Amato, who is coming up with a documentary on Heath Ledger's life titled I Am Heath Ledger.
