Josephine Chaplin, Daughter Of Legendary Charlie Chaplin Dies At 74, Confirms Chaplin's Estate

Charlie Chaplin's daughter Josephine Chaplin, who was an actress, died at the age of 74 on July 13, 2023. Josephine died in France in peace, confirmed the Chaplin Estate confirmed the news on July 20.

Going by the updates, the Chaplin Estate released a statement that read, "She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. For years, Josephine managed the Chaplin Office in Paris on behalf of her siblings until she took leave to care for her husband Jean-Claude Gardin," as quoted by Foxnews.

The family members and the Chaplin Estate didn't disclose the reason for death. The funeral service was held for Josephine at Pere Lachaise on July 21, 2023.

Josephine is the daughter of Chaplin from his fourth wife Oona O'Neill. She is the eighth one among 11 children he gave birth to from three out of his four wives. Chaplin married Lita Grey, Paulette Goodard, and Mildred Harris before Oona.

Josephine Chaplin also took a liking to the film industry and followed in the footsteps of her father. She launched her career with support from her father with a movie called 'Limelight,' which was written and directed by Chaplin himself. She was a child then and her role was uncredited in the year 1952.

She then made a full-fledged debut in 1967 with A Countess from Hong Kong. Josephine later starred in several other films and had quite an eventful television career as well.

Josephine Chaplin was born on March 28, 1949, in Santa Monica, California. She was married twice in her lifetime and her first and second marriages to Nicholas Sistovaris and Jean-Claude Gardin ended in divorce. She spent a noticeable time with Maurice Ronet from 1977 to 1983 until his death. Josephine and Maurice birthed Julien Ronet. Josephine Chaplin in total had three children.
