Here's How A Russian Movie Has Beaten Hollywood & Its Superstar Tom Cruise. Check Deets Inside

 The Challenge

The Challenge: Russia recently premiered its first full-length feature film in cinemas, which is titled The Challenge. The film is said to have a rival Hollywood project in an attempt to confront the West. The film was released on Thursday, and Mosow is now celebrating its victory over its enemy country, the US.

You must be thinking, what makes an ordinary Russian movie beat Hollywood? Then, it's not something average that the European nation has done. The movie was entirely shot in space. And the reason why Russians think that they are ahead of Hollywood is because they have released a movie similar to one that was announced by Tom Cruise and SpaceX in 2020.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

The movie is about a surgeon who is dispatched to the International Space Station to save an injured cosmonaut. The director and an actor were sent by Russia to the ISS in October 2021 for a 12-day assignment and to film scenes in the orbiting laboratory.

For the uninformed, the Russian team has defeated a Hollywood project that was announced by Tom Cruise in 2020 in collaboration with Nasa and Elon Musk's SpaceX.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the successful launch of the movie and stated: "We are the first to have shot a feature film in orbit, aboard a spacecraft. Once again the first."

HOW WAS THE CHALLENGE SHOT?

Yulia Peresild, 38, plays a surgeon in The Challenge who is sent to the ISS in order to save a cosmonaut who gets injured during a spacewalk. Meanwhile, director Klim Shipenko, 39, who was in charge of camera, lighting, and sound, brought back 30 hours of footage, 50 minutes of which were used in the movie's final cut.

The crew had to go through intensive four-month training before beginning their work in space. They were sent on a Soyuz spacecraft, accompanied by a cosmonaut. All scenes were filmed in the Russian ISS module and also featured special cameo appearances by three Russian cosmonauts who were stationed there at the time.
