Wilderness Cast Jenna Coleman And Oliver Jackson-Cohen Give A Sneak Peek Into Their ‘Complex’ Characters

Wilderness: Already gaining much hype for featuring Taylor Swift's re-recorded version of 'Look What You Made Do' in its teaser, Prime Video's upcoming thriller series, Wilderness, promises to take viewers on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and intrigue.

With an ensemble cast led by Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, this gripping series delves deep into the intricacies of human relationships and the shadows of personal demons. Ahead of its global premiere on Sep 15, the leading actors give a sneak peek into the minds of their characters.

Jenna Coleman, known for her remarkable performances in Doctor Who and Victoria, portrays Liv Taylor, a woman hailing from Wales whose life is marked by an enigmatic blend of self-doubt and a penchant for self-preservation.

Coleman opens up about her character, saying, "Liv Taylor is a woman from Wales. We meet her at a point in her life where she's experienced some kind of imposter syndrome. She's a bit unsure of who she is and a bit unsure of herself. Her relationship with Will has some co-dependence, and the boundaries are quite blurred. Through her own insecurities, self-doubt, and lack of self-worth, she puts a lot of herself into Will and her relationship with him. I think she's been very self-protective in her life until she met Will. I think a lot of it has been about not expecting too much in the world. It's a self-preservation tactic. She's very witty and dry and uses humor as a defense weapon."

British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen, known for his popular roles in The Haunting series, steps into the role of Will for the Amazon Original drama. Oliver brings a complex character to life as Will is not your typical antagonist; rather, he's a character marred by his own flaws and experiences.

Jackson-Cohen explains the process of crafting this intricate character, stating, "We had a day where Liz (Exec Producer), Marnie (Writer, Exec Producer), and I sat down and went through all the episodes. It felt very important to build a side to Will that was not a villain but a completely flawed person. With the crafting, I watched hundreds of documentaries about boarding school and what that does to a kid who's been sent there so young. I looked into sex addiction and what people are looking for and what they're hiding. All these elements slowly migrated their way into the script, not necessarily in prominent ways. It's been an interesting process."

The trailer of Wilderness promises the thriller series to be a riveting exploration of complex characters and their tangled relationships.
