Greta Gerwig Addresses #MeToo At Cannes 2024: Cannes 2024 has kicked off! And, the jury of the event are making fan frenzy. Barbie director Greta Gerwig is the jury president at the event and she turned around heads with addressing #MeToo. Wearing a white and blue striped dress, Greta turned heads around with a smile on her face. Along with other juries by her side, she striked a pose at the event. To note, the other juries of Cannes 2024 are Spanish filmmakers JA Bayona, Turkish screenwriter and actress Ebru Ceylan, Italian actor and producer Pierfrancesco Favino, American actress Eva Green, Japanese filmmaker and producer Hirokazu Kore-eda, Lebanese actress and filmmaker Nadine Labaki, and French actor Omar Sy.
CANNES 2024 JURY PRESIDENT GRETA GERWIG ADRRESSED #METOO AT THE EVENT
As director of movie Barbie donned the red carpet. she addressed "substantiative change" in the film industry after #MeToo movement. Variety reports Greta saying, "I think people in the community of movies telling us stories and trying to change things for the better is only good." She added, "I have seen substantive change in in the American film community, and I think it's important that we continue to expand that conversation. So I think it's only moving everything in the correct direction. Keep those lines of communication open." The director also addressed ongoing labor policies, saying, "I certainly support labor movements and we've certainly gone through this just now with our unions." Greta hopes that Cannes festival workers can form "an agreement that is good for them and supports them and supports the festival."
Cannes 2024 commenced on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. One the opening day, Messi the Dog became the star of the night. Along with him, the other actors present at the event were- Jane Fonda, Heidi Klum, Alexandra Lamy, Raymond Depardon, Virginie Ledoyen, and Philippe Torreton.
