'Gus Fring' Actor Giancarlo Esposito Hopes For Breaking Bad Prequel For The Character

Giancarlo Esposito's Interview With Discussing Film: Giancarlo Esposito, an actor known for his prominent role of Gus Fring in 'Breaking Bad', recently did an interview with DiscussingFilm talking about all the media he's worked on as of late. He mentioned his time working on Francis Ford Coppola 'Megalopolis', a crime-drama series produced by him titled 'Parish', and one of the latest movies to release on AMC titled 'MaXXXine'. He has also featured in many other drama series, such as taking on the role of Stan Edgar in 'The Boys' and featuring in the Netflix Series 'The Gentlemen'. He is also reportedly joining the cast of an upcoming Marvel movie 'Captain America: Brave New World'.
In the interview, Esposito talked about his time working with the many different directors and his appreciation for the filmmaking scene in Europe. He talked about his experiences at the Cannes Film Festival as he was able to see 'Megalopolis' for the first time alongside director Francis Ford Coppola. He also went on to talk about his time working on the AMC crime-drama series 'Parish' and expressed his desire to play complicated characters that can enchant audiences.
How Giancarlo Esposito Feels About A Breaking Bad Prequel: Eventually, the interview moves on and touches on how AMC has already worked on a prequel series of 'Breaking Bad' called 'Better Call Saul' which did a deep dive on one of the side character's backstory. This series was received just as well as the original, which prompted the interviewer to ask Esposito whether he plans to work with AMC to create another 'Breaking Bad' prequel which focused on the story of Gus Fring.
Esposito responded by saying, "I don't have the power to greenlight a Gus Fring prequel, but I think that character deserves a little attention in that arena. Maybe I say that now because I'm confident that I could be at that number one spot and bring in viewers for an interesting story." He talked about how he mentioned the idea to Peter Gould, the writer and co-director of both 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', but Gould expressed that he had other interests he wanted to pursue for the time being.
While no official confirmation for another prequel series has been given, we at least know that Giancarlo Esposito wants it to happen and will be onboard if it ever becomes a thing.
