When Kim Kardashian Became An Overnight Sensation With One S*x Tape Leak
Did you know even before appearing in the iconic 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians', Kim Kardashian stirred the internet with her a s*x tape with her then-boyfriend Ray J was leaked. Kim and Ray, who had dated from 2002-2006, created headlines with the leaked s*x tape. In 2004, the couple had went for a luxurious trip to Cabo to celebrate Kim's 23rd birthday, where they had allegedly filmed the s*x tape. It was kept under wraps until the public p*rn film company named Vivid Entertainment decided to release it as 'Kim Kardashian, Superstar' in 2007 as a 41-minute film. Shortly after the incident, she appeared in the first season of the reality show.
When the rumours started gaining attention, Kim had filed a lawsuit against the Entertainment company trying to stop the release. However, it didn't work. Reportedly, Kim dropped the lawsuit after 3 months and settled for a reported US$5 million, giving Vivid permission to market and sell copies of the tape. While Kim has always maintained that she was dead against the release of the s*x tape, Ray allegedly claimed that she sought her mother's help to plan its release via Vivid Entertainment.
However, back in 2022, the American singer-song writer claimed that he never possessed the tape. Talking to Daily Mail, Ray had stated, "I've sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I've never really spoken about".
"I've never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It's always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we've always been partners since the beginning of this thing," he further added.
