K-pop group SEVENTEEN is set to be appointed UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador for Youth on June 26, following their active participation in the UNESCO Youth Forum. Their commitment to youth empowerment and global outreach through music and initiatives aligns with UNESCO's mission.
SEVENTEEN Named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth: SEVENTEEN will be appointed UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador for Youth by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on June 26. The ceremony will occur at the Organization's Headquarters in Paris.
This appointment follows SEVENTEEN's participation in the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris in November 2023. The group highlighted youth solidarity and action through a speech and live performance before representatives from UNESCO's 194 Member States, youth delegates, and fans.
Commitment to Youth Empowerment
"SEVENTEEN and UNESCO share the same commitment to empowering young people to drive change and address the challenges of our century," said Audrey Azoulay. She emphasized SEVENTEEN's role in inspiring and supporting young people worldwide with their music and energy.
"Following several successful joint actions, I wanted our partnership to take on even greater strategic importance. On June 26, I will be delighted to welcome the 13 members of the group into the family of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors," she added.
Previous Collaborations and Initiatives
In 2022, SEVENTEEN launched the initiative '#GoingTogether' with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. This initiative helped establish new educational centers in Timor-Leste and provided educational aid in Malawi.
