Oscars Ceremonies In Search Of Host As Jimmy Kimmel And John Mulaney Say 'No'

It seems that ABC is currently struggling to find a host for the upcoming 97th Academy Awards. The awards ceremony which will be held in 2025 is still undergoing prep-work as the crew behind it continue working to find a host.
While hosting the Oscars can be a very prestigious achievement, it seems that some individuals in Hollywood don't want all the extra work and burden that comes along with it. One such individual includes Jimmy Kimmel, known for his late night talk show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' which has been running since 2003.
The news was unexpected as Jimmy Kimmel has already had considerable experience acting as a host for many award shows, including the Academy Awards. In fact, he has already hosted the Oscars four times, including two very recent instances. He hosted the awards show two years in a row in 2018 and 2019, but couldn't follow up due to COVID restrictions. Then after the 2022 show being hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes, he again hosted the awards for another two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel actually joked about the number of times he's hosted the show when he accepted the offer in 2023, stating, "I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times." While this comment was made in jest, it seems that Kimmel has become too tired or too busy to accommodate hosting the Oscars as he juggles his show, personal life and other projects.
After Jimmy Kimmel, John Mulaney was the next choice. He has already had some experience hosting as he was the host for the 2024 Governor Awards and did an excellent job. While he had stated on record that he would like to host the Academy Awards and wouldn't say no to the opportunity, it seems that other projects caught up with him as he ended up refusing when the offer did eventually come around.
No list has been provided as to who the next potential host could be, so all we can do is wait and see whether the person who will eventually be selected as the host will be able to fill the shoes of Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney.
