He was popularly known for his appearance in Johnny Depp's popular film, 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'. Perry was killed on Sunday (June 2023) while he was surfing in Hawaii. Calling Tamayo Perry's death a "tragic loss", Honolulu mayor Rick Blangiardi said, "Tamayo was a legendary waterman and highly respected."

Tamayo Perry, who appeared in the fourth film of the popular 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, passed away on Sunday afternoon after sustaining multiple shark bites while surfing near Goat Island in Hawaii.

According to the Associated Press, Tamayo Perry, 49, was attacked by a shark near the Mālaekahana beach just before 1:00 PM local time. Reportedly, the Emergency services were called to the beach and Perry was brought at the shore by jet ski but was declared dead. Following his death, shark warning have been posted in the area by the Ocean Safety officials.

The Honolulu Emergency Services Department told in a statement, "A caller told 911 dispatchers that the man's body appeared to have suffered more than one shark bite."

Born and raised on "just east of the North Shore", as per his biography, Tamayo Perry was and actor and a professional surfer. Besides 'Pirates of the Caribbean', he also appeared in Hollywood films like 'Blue Crush', 'Hawaii Five-0', and Charlie's Angels sequel 'Full Throttle'. He had also worked as a stunt performer in the Owen Wilson film 'The Big Bounce' (2004).

Tamayo began his career with the Ocean Safety Department back in July 2016 as a lifeguard.
