Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter Faces Fourth Sexual-Assault Allegation & Giving Her STDs

Laura Penly has filed a lawsuit against Nick Carter, alleging multiple acts of sexual assault and significant health repercussions, including cervical cancer. Carter's legal team denies the claims, stating they are unfounded.

Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys has been named in a lawsuit filed by a woman, Laura Penly, who alleges that he committed multiple acts of sexual assault against her and purposefully passed on sexually transmitted diseases. The legal action, initiated by Penly, focuses on claims that Carter assaulted her several times over 2004 and 2005, starting when she was just 19. Their initial encounter in Los Angeles led to a short-lived sexual relationship, during which Carter is accused of refusing to use protection, allegedly resulting in Penly contracting an STD.

In early 2005, Penly recounts a visit to Carter's apartment in Los Angeles where she claims to have been overpowered and physically assaulted by Carter despite her clear refusal and pleas for him to stop. She further alleges that he attempted to silence her with threats that no one would believe her story. According to Penly, Carter extended an apology later and invited her over once more, an invitation that led to another alleged assault under similar circumstances.

The lawsuit highlights the severe repercussions of Carter's actions on Penly's health and well-being. She claims to have contracted multiple STDs, including HPV, which led to a diagnosis of cervical cancer—a direct result of the HPV infection. Penly has had to undergo extensive cancer treatments, including surgery, which she attributes to the alleged assaults. The physical and emotional toll includes severe distress, medical complications, intimacy problems, and other trauma, for which she is now seeking damages.

In her legal pursuit, Penly accuses Carter of sexual assault, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Her allegations bring to light the grave impact of Carter's purported actions on her life, underscoring the lawsuit's significance.

Carter's response to these allegations has been one of vehement denial. His legal representatives, Liane K Wakayama and Dale Hayes Jr, have dismissed the claims as unfounded and slanderous. They argue that the lawsuit is part of a pattern of baseless accusations aimed at exploiting Carter's professional achievements for financial gain. "This is just more of the same nonsense from the gang of conspirators and their lawyers who continue to abuse the justice system to try to ruin Nick Carter. It's drawn from the same predictable playbook – lie in wait for decades until Mr. Carter is celebrating a professional milestone, then hide behind litigation privilege to make utterly false claims in an attempt to inflict maximum damage on Nick and his family," they stated.

Furthermore, Carter's legal team has raised doubts about Penly's credibility, noting her history of financial and legal troubles, including bankruptcy and accusations of fraud. They firmly deny any recollection of Carter meeting Penly or engaging in a sexual relationship with her.

This lawsuit adds to a series of legal troubles Carter has faced, all of which he has staunchly denied in the past. As the case unfolds, it underscores the ongoing legal challenges faced by public figures and the complexities surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct.
