Drop Release Date: Christopher Landon Revives The ’90s Thriller Vibe - A Gripping Whodunnit Awaits

Drop Release Date Christopher Landon Revives The 90s

National 26th, March 2025: Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery) presents Drop, the ultimate thriller of the summer that turns a simple notification into a nightmare. Directed by Christopher Landon, the genius behind Happy Death Day, this wickedly suspenseful whodunnit transforms a modern dating dilemma into pure horror. Starring Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy and the ever-dashing Brandon Sklenar, this film comes straight from the powerhouse minds of Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes. Drop is a heart-pounding thriller that will put you on the edge of your seat, releasing on 11th April 2025.

The trailer for Drop has just come out, offering a gripping glimpse into this high-stakes thriller filled with non-stop clever twists and turns. Drop follows a story of Violet (Meghann Fahy) A widowed mother finally taking a chance on love again, she's thrilled when her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar), is as handsome and charismatic as she'd hoped. But just as sparks start to fly, an anonymous message pings her phone. Then another. And another. What she thought was an eerie prank quickly escalates into a deadly game-where everyone in the restaurant is either a suspect or the next victim. The tension-filled trailer teases heart-pounding moments, from Violet's rising panic to a chilling confrontation where Henry may not be who he seems. As the messages keep dropping, the real question emerges-who is behind the terrifying game, and how far will Violet go to survive?

Director Christopher Landon saw Drop as an opportunity to make a style of film he felt a certain nostalgia for. "I wanted to make a sort of throwback to '90s thrillers and even further back to Hitchcock and De Palma, but with this very modern conceit at the center of it," He further adds "That was really appealing to me. This also felt like my chance to make a love letter to films like Red Eye. That's a movie I really love, and think is underappreciated. It is such a tight, contained thriller."

He also talks about the opportunity to work with the company again and says, "I think the reason I've had such a lasting relationship with Blumhouse, and specifically Jason, is the amount of creative freedom they give their filmmakers." a reason why the filmmakers keep going back to work with them. With a chilling premise, a stellar cast, and Christopher Landon's signature storytelling, Drop is set to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Mark your calendars for 11th April, 2025, and get ready for a throwback thriller like never before!
