Hulu described the film 'A Real Pain' in the following manner, "When mismatched cousins David and Benji reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, the adventure takes a turn when the odd-couple's old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history."

While the film does fall primarily into the genre of comedy, there are moments where the film will tackle some very serious topics such as strained familial relationships, thoughts of death and even suicide.
