'Golden Kamuy - The Hunt Of Prisoners In Hokkaido' Netflix Live-Action Series Trailer Released

The official Netflix Asia YouTube channel just dropped a new trailer for a live-action series that continues the story of the 'Golden Kamuy' live-action film based on the manga series of the same name. The new live-action series is called 'Golden Kamuy - The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido' and the trailer for it can be watched below.

Plot Of The Live-Action Series 'Golden Kamuy - The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido'

The story of 'Golden Kamuy' follows the protagonist Saichu Sugimoto, a war veteran of the Russo-Japanese War. He returns to Japan to help provide for the widow of one of his friends from war.

During this time, he discovers a tale that a group of miners had mined up a large amount of gold, but kept it hidden. One of the miners killed the others to keep it for himself, but was caught and arrested. In order to not let his death be for nothing, he tattoo'd bits of the map to find the gold onto the backs of the different prisoners of his prison. The rest of the story follows the many different factions of Japan trying to hunt down all tattooed prisoners so they can create the map and take the treasure for themselves.

The drama series will likely pick up from where the live-action movie ended. The movie's ending revealed that the gold stashed by the miners wasn't just weighing 200 kan (750 kg) of gold, but rather 20,000 kan (75,000 kg) of gold, enough to build up an entirely new nation.

Cast Of 'Golden Kamuy - The Hunt of Prisoners in Hokkaido' Live Action Series:

The series will see a return of many of the main characters like Kento Yamazaki as Saichi Sugimoto, and Anna Yamada as Asirpa. There are, however, many other new players getting added to the plot of the story, and with them, a whole new cast of actors and actresses which include Hiroyuki Ikeuchi as Kiroranke, Yuki Sakurai as Kano Ienaga, Akihisa Shino as Kantaro Okuyama, Takahiro Fujimoto as Tetsuzo Nihei, Kiyohiko Shibukawa as Kiichiro Wakayama, Yu Tokui as Choan Kumagishi, and more.

While the live-action film's director Shigeaki Kubo will return as the director of the series, he will be co-directing alongside Ken Ochiai, Yosuke Sato and Kenji Katagiri.
