“He’s Bumbling, Not Stupid”: Liam Neeson Tackles Laughs In The Naked Gun

Liam Neeson takes a hilariously unexpected turn in The Naked Gun reboot, embracing chaos with a straight face-and landing laughs with pinpoint timing. Starring alongside Pamela Anderson in the lead, Liam Neeson opens up bringing a laugh riot to the cinemas this Friday.
"Seth McFarlane (producer) is an old pal, and he called me up a couple of years ago and dangled the idea of me doing this reboot of this character. I said I was interested. It's as simple as that," Neeson shares.
He adds, "He's a very committed police inspector, but he's bumbling. He's not stupid, but he has a naivete to him. He finds himself in some situations, and does the wrong thing - but with the right attitude. It lands him in a lot of precious situations that he has to, in a funny way, find a way out of."
Co-star Anderson admits to being completely starstruck on day one. "He's had such an incredible career, he's part of acting royalty," she says. "So, it was intimidating. I was actually afraid to meet him. I was literally shaking, the first day I came to rehearse our first scene. But once we got going, he's such a gentleman and such a sweetheart - and so giving and generous, complementary and supportive, you can't help but fall in love with Liam."
She didn't waste the opportunity to learn from him either. "I was just soaking it in, like a sponge. I'm new at this, so I really pay attention, watching and observing him, on and off camera, how he conducts himself. It's really incredible to witness and learn from."
With Neeson's straight-faced stumble into absurdity and Anderson's fresh charm, The Naked Gun is shaping up to be the comedy curveball of the year.
Paramount Pictures releases The Naked Gun in Indian theatres on Aug 1, 2025.
