Premiering exclusively on Lionsgate Play this 23rd May, the film follows a chilling mystery sparked by a sudden death and an unsettling revelation that threatens to dismantle a seemingly perfect legacy. With a hauntingly compelling performance, Dynevor leads an ensemble cast through a labyrinth of deception, where every heirloom hides a truth and every bond is tested. Prepare for a tense, twist-laden ride that will keep you guessing until the very last will is read.
Joining Dynevor is a stellar cast that includes Rhys Ifans, Ciara Baxendale, & Kashyap Shangari amongst others, in this twist-laden, high-stakes story. Directed by Neil Burger, Inheritance pushes boundaries both on-screen and behind the camera. Shot entirely on an iPhone across multiple countries, including India, the film offers a raw, immersive experience that sets it apart from traditional thrillers.
Talking about his approach to directing Inheritance, Director Neil Burger said, "When most film productions arrive at a location, they disrupt the normal life there. They have lots of equipment, crewmembers, trucks; they close roads, block sidewalks, and generally become the center of attention. I wanted to do the opposite, to film under the radar, so I could look at the world as it is, rather than have the world look at us, the filmmakers. And we did see the world -- we literally went around the world - New York, Cairo, New Delhi, Seoul, New York -- shooting with a tiny crew, no lights, no boom mikes, trying to make ourselves invisible. So we could see life as it was being lived at this moment. We took the same trip the characters take, shooting in all the real places, everywhere they."
Neil carried on saying, "We shot a motorcycle being chased by the police on open roads in Delhi. Sounds dangerous but it's so crowded that you never reach high speeds. Even so it was exhilarating and unlike any kind of footage you've seen before. We shot at the New Delhi train station, waiting on the platform with everyone else, getting onto a working train, filming as we went across the Indian countryside."
Talking about his Hollywood debut with this film, Actor Kashyap Shangari said, "Inheritance gave me the chance to step into a world where charm and danger walk a fine line. I don't have a lengthy role in the film, to be very honest but it's a very, very important one especially in Maya's journey when she comes to India to look for answers. My character isn't just a man across the table - he's a mirror to Maya's past and a test of her instincts. Playing him was about restraint, elegance, and the thrill of never revealing too much. Working with Neil Burger was something else, his precision is razor sharp and his ability to build tension without saying much is just wow. You'll see what I mean when you watch the film, there's something about the way he frames a scene that keeps you on edge in the best way. I'm grateful to be part of a story that's so globally ambitious, yet deeply personal. For me this is the doorway to more stories on the world stage that I'm ready to step through -with gratitude, curiosity, and a fire to explore more."
